Cameron Teitelman

Cameron is the Founder and a Senior Managing Director of StartX, formerly SSE Labs. He is a former student at Stanford University, graduating in 2011 with a degree in Management Science and Engineering.

Cameron was brought on as the General Manager of SSE Ventures in 2008, which is the venture capital division of Stanford Student Enterprises, to manage a fund to invest in student businesses. Through this role he saw a big need within university entrepreneurship from which came the solution: StartX.

During his Stanford Career, Cameron was involved in both the athletic and entrepreneurship community. He was a member of Stanford’s Division I varsity wrestling team, as well as an active member of Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity. While at Stanford, he also founded and acted as the CEO of The Essential Card Group, a discount membership company.

Cameron has previous work experience in private equity at Audax Group, a premier investment firm in middle market companies, and helped found Accelon Capital, a middle market private equity firm in Menlo Park.

He is initially from Los Angeles and has a professional background in the entertainment industry.

Jeff Mounzer

Jeff Mounzer is a Senior Managing Director at StartX. He is a Ph.D. candidate in the Electrical Engineering Department at Stanford University. He received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering and a B.A. degree in economics from the University of California, San Diego in 2008, as well as an M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 2010. His research interests include mathematical modeling, optimization, and control of networked systems, particularly with applications to wireless networking, smart grids, and IT security risk management.

Jeff has a deep passion for leadership and for building teams and organizations. The experience that defined his time at UCSD was being the president of the Engineering Student Council for two years. He loves the energy and dynamism of the StartX team and of all the entrepreneurs in the program.

Outside of StartX and his research, Jeff also enjoys sports of all kinds. He is an avid tennis player, enjoys pickup basketball and soccer, and loves watching Stanford football. He also enjoys traveling and various outdoor activities.

Vishvesh Jhaveri

Vishvesh Jhaveri (Vish) is a Master's Student in Management Science and Engineering, focusing on Energy and Entrepreneurship, two of his biggest passions. Vishvesh is very interested in renewable energy and wishes to get involved with clean-tech start-ups.

Before Stanford, Vishvesh worked for a Solar Integration Company in India. He worked on several projects involving setting up of Solar Water Heating systems and has some experience in Solar Photo-voltaic Power Plants.

Another of Vishvesh's passions is cars. He has been part of a team that built a Formula Style Race Car and participated in an international engineering design competition at the Hockenheim Ring in Germany.

Vishvesh was born and brought up in Mumbai, India. He believes in the immense potential for alternative energy in India.

Nicolas Kokkalis

Nicolas Kokkalis is a Ph.D. student of Computer Engineering at Stanford University.

He has expertise in designing social applications that grow virally, using electronic word of mouth marketing. His applications on Facebook and MySpace attracted more than 20 million users with exceptional engagement and retention rates. Nicolas has founded three companies that raised over $3.5M in venture capital.

He is from Kalamata, a little city in Greece that produces good olives. He loves swimming in the sea, traveling, and is addicted to entrepreneurship and hard work.

Laura Griffiths

Laura is a senior majoring in Psychology and Mathematical and Computational Science while debating the merits of a coterm in Management Science and Engineering.

Laura spent a summer working on Business Development at Milo.com, a tech startup recently acquired by Ebay which provides real-time local product inventory, and last summer as a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company.

Born in London, Laura grew up primarily in Los Angeles but lived for several years in Spain, Austria, Switzerland and South Africa. Laura has represented Great Britain and the USA in rock climbing and competed in events across the world. She enjoys bouldering, sport climbing, snow boarding, sailing and any new adventures.

Tony Lai

Tony Lai is a Fellow at the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics (CodeX), a co-founder of LawGives.org, and an LL.M. student on the Law, Science and Technology Program at Stanford Law School. He handles StartX's internal legal matters and coordinates with partner law firms to provide legal advice and workshops for the StartX startup teams.

Tony has a broad range of legal experience advising the technology, communications and media industries in Europe, Asia and Africa. Prior to Stanford, Tony practised for over four years in the London and Hong Kong offices of Herbert Smith LLP, including pro bono work advising the social enterprise arm of Barnardo’s, a UK children's charity, from its formation through to the development of several social ventures.

Tony also has Bachelors and Masters degrees in Modern History from the University of Oxford, is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, and enjoys designing human-centered solutions to systemic problems by collaborating in inter-disciplinary teams, including as part of his involvement with Ideas For A Better Internet (a joint initiative of Stanford Law School and the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School), and ongoing projects at Stanford’s d.school.

Saunders Hayes

Saunders Hayes is an undergraduate at Stanford University studying Computer Science. He first became involved in StartX in the Fall of 2010 as a freshman.

Since he started working with StartX, he has become extremely passionate about the program. He loves the awesome founder community and sees great potential for StartX to become an extremely disruptive force in the Silicon Valley and in other entrepreneurial hotspots around the world.

He spent last summer in the Grand Canyon studying the interdisciplinary subject of water in the West, having the opportunity to take a 14 day, 225 mile rafting trip down the Colorado River with the some of the world's leading authorities on the subject.

Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Saunders loves coding and web development, electronic music, traveling, and staying active.

Bradley Newman

Brad Newman is a graduate of Stanford Law School's LL.M. program in Law, Science and Technology, a Fellow at the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics (CodeX) and a co-founder of LawGives, a law-related startup. He assists with StartX's internal legal matters and is developing processes to best serve founders and coordinate with partner law firms to provide legal advice and workshops for the StartX startup teams.

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Brad worked as an associate in the Toronto office of Norton Rose OR LLP (née Ogilvy Renault LLP), where he focused on corporate and M&A law with an emphasis on privacy and technology-related matters such as outsourcing, software and hardware licensing, website terms of use and developing corporate acceptable use and privacy policies. He has taught classes on fundamental Canadian law to foreign students and currently volunteers at the Palo Alto Animal Shelter training and walking dogs up for adoption. Brad attended law school at the University of Windsor in Canada where he graduated in 2007 at the top of his class, earning the Board of Governors medal.

Katherina Nguyen

Katherina recently graduated from Stanford with a B.A. Honors in Science, Technology, and Society. She is currently on deferred leave from her program in Global Management at ESSEC business school in Paris and works as an independent strategic design consultant in San Francisco. Her current projects include ebook production design, UX app design, personal branding and portfolio preparation for private clients.

Katherina is very excited to be joining the team as StartX’s in-house designer and looks forward to solving the diverse challenges entrepreneurs encounter in communicating their vision. She loves her work because she’s inspired everyday by the amazing people she meets at StartX and is happy she is able to help them inspire others.

In her spare time, Katherina enjoys scoping out cool art blogs, reading management theory, playing video games, hiking, collecting quirky gadgets, and making puns. She hopes to one day revisit her research on international entrepreneurial communities and organizational processes.

Divya Nag

Divya Nag is an undergraduate student at Stanford University pursuing a major in Human Biology. She first became involved with StartX in the Summer of 2011 as one of the co-founders of Stem Cell Theranostics, a biotechnology company. Her involvement in SCT stems from long-standing participation in regenerative medicine research and patient advocacy for under served communities.

Divya has co-authored over 10 publications in the fields of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, and has presented at top conferences. Outside of learning how to perform new surgical techniques, Divya wants to build an infrastructure to support innovations in the medical field. As such, Divya will be leading the StartX Med initiative, and is thrilled to be a part of the StartX team.

Outside of StartX and her research, Divya also like exercising the right side of her brain. She enjoys painting, attending theatrical events, going to museums and reading.

Brian Hoffman

Brian is a second year J.D. candidate at Stanford Law School. He received degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of Louisville (UofL). At UofL, Brian served as student-body president and on the University Board of Trustees, representing over 22,000 students. Upon graduation, he ventured to Hong Kong as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, earning a Masters in International Affairs from the University of Hong Kong. During his final year before law school he worked for the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuala Lumpur as a Fulbright Scholar.

Outside of Stanford Law and StartX Brian leads a secret society bent on ridding boredom from the face of the Earth. His interests include the people, places, and food of Southeast Asia, international business, awkward moments, scuba diving, and most of all...fine Kentucky bourbon.

SE Hayes

SE is a masters student in the product design under IDEO's David Kelley. She was a founder in the program and loved it so much that she joined the staff. When not at StartX you can usually find her in the studio, people watching, or ideating with friends.

Erik Pavia

Erik is currently a student at Stanford Law School, focusing his studies on transactions, finance, and technology related law.

Before attending Stanford, Erik graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso, with a Bachelors in Business and Economics. Erik was born and raised in El Paso, where the heat and allergens made him predisposed to spend his time indoors, either reading, playing video games, designing websites that would never see the internet, or picking things up and putting them down again.

Soumya Santhanakrishnan

Soumya recently graduated from Stanford with an M.S in Management Science and Engineering.

She is passionate about the education space and technology, and her dream is to provide educational resources in India that encourage innovation and push the boundaries of the current educational system. She is thrilled to be working at StartX, where she is focusing on developing educational content as well as running the mentorship program.

Soumya spent last summer as a Business Analyst with Deloitte, and is heading to McKinsey in September.
 
Soumya was born in Chennai, India. She grew up in Muscat, Oman and Chennai. An amateur theatre artist, she enjoys traveling, writing and exotic food.

Daniel Chiu

Daniel Chiu is a freshman majoring in Computer Science at Stanford University.

Daniel spent a summer interning for Fairway Technologies, Inc., an IT consulting firm, where he picked up a broad range of web development and design skills.

Daniel was born in New Jersey, but grew up in sunny San Diego. He enjoys running, archery, fencing, and hacking around on computers.

Ben Tan

Ben is a first-year Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford. He graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University in 2011. As an undergraduate, Ben had studied
microfluidics, MEMs, and superhydrophobic surfaces in labs in the US, Germany, and Taiwan. Recently, Ben has started to shift away from research and has committed himself to StartX to learn more about startups and entrepreneurship.

Ben grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he loved the food but hated the weather. Since moving out to California, he’s found a way to enjoy both by grilling with his buddies almost every weekend. In addition to both cooking and eating, Ben enjoys playing squash really badly with his friends and reading food and travel blogs in his spare time.

John Melas-Kyriazi

John is a Ph.D. student in Materials Science & Engineering at Stanford. He received his B.S. from Stanford in 2011 in Engineering Physics.

John believes that entrepreneurship is the most effective vehicle for us to fundamentally change the world that we live in. He is passionate about clean energy, and his doctoral research focuses on the development of devices that can store the energy from sunlight in chemical fuel. As an undergraduate, John conducted research on photovoltaic cells, worked in business development and marketing at a solar startup in the Bay Area, and was a 2011 Mayfield Fellow. He also helped to found the Stanford Green Fund, which gives grants to students for environmental and
cleantech projects.

Originally from the Boston area, John enjoys traveling, cooking, skiing, and discovering new types of music.

Caiyao Mai

Caiyao Mai is an undergrad majoring in at Stanford. He is also interested in math and psychology and thinking of minor in art practice.

Before coming to Stanford, Caiyao worked for a eco-power racing car team in China. He attended races around Asia as an engineer in charge of the automobile engine. In high school Caiyao has founded a communication group consisting of a magazine and a students website. He also founded a foundation to donate the profits of the website and the magazine to kids in poor areas in China.

Caiyao is from Chengdu, China. He has also lived in Shanghai for a couple of years. He is a big soccer fan. He likes reading classical literature and watching movies. His favorite food is hotpot.

Kirk Willmarth

Kirk is a first year Ph.D. student in Developmental Biology at Stanford University. He has not yet selected his thesis topic, but he is passionate about organogenesis, disease models and their applications to human health.

Kirk graduated from Duke University in 2008 with degrees in Biology and Chemistry. He spent three years as a consultant for Bain and Company prior returning to research. He is interested in the intersection of scientific research and business and is thrilled about the opportunity to help founders at StartX turn their ideas into practical applications.

Kirk enjoys cooking and outdoor activities, including ultimate frisbee, soccer and tennis.

Yunshu Zhao

Yunshu was born and raised in China, but spent part of her childhood in Ghana, Africa. This experience has developed in her great passion in international development and multicultural understanding. Now she is a Master’s student in International Comparative Education at Stanford with a research focus on educational equality and quality in developing nations and particularly China.

Passionate about social entrepreneurship, Yunshu has worked on various research projects and in different developmental organizations that aim to make a social impact and improve the lives of disadvantaged populations.

Outside school work and StartX commitment, Yunshu enjoys cooking, playing ping pang, and definitely couch-surfing around the globe!

Greg Greiner

Greg is a undergraduate at Stanford majoring in Management Science & Engineering with a focus in Organization, Technology and Entrepreneurship and hoping to minor in Computer Science. He is interested in consumer technology, venture capital, and most of all entrepreneurship.

During high school Greg had is first encounter with entrepreneurship by founding Bob’s Watches, an e-commerce website that buys and sells pre-owned Rolex which has been successful and continues to grow. Greg still serves as a consultant at Bob’s Watches. Greg also is co-president and
financial officer of the Stanford Men’s Club Volleyball team and started a non- profit for teens with Cerebral Palsy with a friend who lives with the disability.

Greg grew up in Huntington Beach, CA and enjoys beach volleyball, ping pong, FIFA, and basketball.

Amy Tsui

Amy Tsui is a Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University. Her thesis work involves the use of bio-based polymers to produce biodegradable construction materials and she hopes that her work can eventually be spun-off into a company.

Passionate about communities like StartX that promote excellence and support, Amy recently founded the Stanford Polymers Collective - a student organization focused on enhancing polymers research at Stanford. She also volunteers as a regional team lead for the Society of Women Engineer's (SWE) Collegiate Leadership Coaching Committee whose goal is to promote professional and organizational viability in local SWE sections.

Amy was born and raised in New Jersey where she graduated from Rutgers University with a BS in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Urban Studies. She enjoys ultimate frisbee, sustainable plastics, the energy of StartX, and running. Since moving to the west coast, she has also been embracing her "outdoors" side through hiking and camping.

Andrew Lockhart

Andrew is a first year student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business focusing on entrepreneurship and innovation. Prior to coming to the GSB, Andrew cofounded PopHire, a social recruitment and employee rewards platform that was funded by Extreme Venture Partners.

Before that, Andrew worked as an Experience Architect at Idea Couture, an innovation consultancy where he led multi-disciplinary teams in the conceptualization of new products, services and business models for Fortune 1000 clients spanning health care, consumer electronics, consumer packaged goods and financial services.

Andrew graduated with High Distinction from the University of Toronto with a degree in Communication, Culture and Information Technology.

Crystal Yin

Crystal Yin is now a 2nd year master student in Management Science and Engineering at Stanford, concentrating in Entrepreneurship. At Stanford she has worked on her own start-up, and she was the 2010 E-challenge finalist, the largest business plan competition at Stanford. She also started Chinese Entrepreneur Organization, has been working at BASES, StartX, the Stanford Student Start-up Accelerator, and Illuminate venture. She has worked in 5 start-ups, in IT, food, logistics, education and non-for-profit sectors. Crystal grew up in China and spent 5 years in Singapore.

Dan Ha

Dan is a co-founder and Senior Managing Director of StartX, and also created the website. He recently graduated from Stanford, finishing his studies in Computer Science with a focus in Systems this winter. He began learning about entrepreneurship after working on his CS210 senior project with the Samsung San Jose R&D Center. Since then, the more he experiences, the more he understands that entrepreneurship is where his passion lies.

He has been involved in a wide range of student groups - as a Dance Marathon staff member, singing a cappella with Talisman, being an active in Alpha Kappa Psi, and coordinating events as a Senior Class President as well as being the financial officer for the class.

Dan was born in British Columbia, but grew up in Worcester, MA. However, he fell in love with California the first day he visited Stanford in spring of 2006. He's excited to work with the amazing Labs team, as well as the inspiring entrepreneurs participating in the StartX program.

David Geeter

David Geeter or “Geet” is a senior Majoring in Earth Systems with a concentration in Sustainable Development and Entrepreneurship. David has dedicated much of his undergraduate career as a student leader for environmental sustainability at Stanford. As former Co-President of Students for a Sustainable Stanford, David played a major role in forming partnerships with other student groups, staff, and faculty that have allowed the message of “sustainability” to reach a broader audience on campus. Two examples include the formation of an annual Arts and Sustainability Festival known as Vision eARTh, along with a revitalized concept for Stanford’s Green Dorm Project that has been adopted for the further development.

David has now taken his leadership and academic experience in Sustainable Development to Silicon Valley, seeking to build a community of innovators who are committed to solving our planet’s most pressing challenges through entrepreneurship.

Diana Lee

Diana is the Mentorship Director of SSE Labs. She is an undergraduate student at Stanford University, majoring in Chemical Engineering and minoring in Computer Science.

She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Psi, Stanford's co-ed business fraternity, and is currently serving as VP Membership of the Pi Tau chapter. She is interested in alternative energy and hopes to get involved especially with cleantech startups in the area.

Diana was born in Walnut Creek, CA, grew up in Ridgewood, NJ, and now lives Spring, TX. She loves going to concerts, guacamole, and finding out new things about people.

Fon Kulalert

Fon is a rising senior majoring in Chemical Engineering, with a minor in Economics. Fon was born and raised in Thailand, and she spent her childhood in five different provinces in Thailand. After awarded the King's scholarship from the Thai government to pursue her undergraduate education abroad, Fon spent a year at Phillips Exeter Academy before coming to Stanford, where she has been involved in Stanford-Thai Exchange Program and a 501(c)(3) Southeast Asian Leadership Network (SEALNet).
Fon also has a passion for research, as she was the REU student in the Electrical Engineering Department researching on the x-ray diffraction microscopy and a research assistant in the medical school working on fluorescence proteins. Currently, in addition to working with StartX, which she is really excited about, Fon is also working in a finance research group at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
During her free time, Fon enjoys photography, especially portraiture and macro, watching movies, and following tennis.

Greg Lucas

Greg is a student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Prior to the GSB, Greg was an Associate at Bain Capital Ventures, a stage-agnostic venture capital and growth equity firm in Boston. His areas of interest include software, consumer internet, cleantech, and education.

Prior to Bain Capital, Greg worked in management consulting at The Parthenon Group where he worked with a variety of companies in the information, healthcare, and wireless technologies space, including several early-stage companies taking equity in lieu of fees. Greg holds a BA from Dartmouth College.

Henri Deshays

Henri is a student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Prior joining Stanford, Henri was M&A analyst for one year in Natixis, a French Investment Bank. He then joined a French holding company as financial controller then CFO, where he refocused the company’s investments in Healthcare.

Henri currently serves at the Board of French’s leading Health IT company Softway Medical, SNR (Electronic Patient Record) and Germitec (medical device company focused in the disinfection of ultrasound probes). Completely related to his former experience, Henri created a fashion company specialized in outerwear for women called Prêt Pour Partir, which is currently sold in more than 150 boutiques around the world.

Henri holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from Université Paris IX Dauphine and a Master in Finance from IEP Paris.

Jocelyn Kinsey

Jocelyn is a sophomore at Stanford University majoring in Management, Science, and Engineering. She is currently an active SSE Labs team member.

While at Stanford, Jocelyn has been actively involved in several different student groups on campus such as 85 Broads, Delta Delta Delta, and Rotaract.

Last summer, Jocelyn interned at Abbott Laboratories in Corporate Quality. She will join Abbott again this summer as an engineering intern.

Interests include entrepreneurship, finance, traveling, and golf.

Jonathan Golden

Jonathan is a student at Stanford Graduate School of Business focusing on entrepreneurship. He is working with several startups on campus that focus on mobile application development.

Before Stanford, Jonathan worked as an venture capital Analyst at Greylock Partners, an early stage venture capital firm. At Greylock, he sourced startup investment opportunities and advised portfolio companies in enterprise software, consumer internet and cleantech sectors. Jonathan also spent time as a Product Manager at HubSpot, a software-as-a-servcie marketing automation startup.

Previously, Jonathan worked as an investment banking Analyst at Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he participated in various transactions within the financial institutions and financial technology industries.

Jonathan holds a BBA with high distinction in finance and business information technology from the University of Michigan.

Jordan Segall

Jordan is a freshman at Stanford planning to double major in Management Science & Engineering and Computer Science. Jordan is interested in finance, venture capital, and high tech, however his true passion lies in entrepreneurship. This summer, Jordan will be interning at Audax Group, a private equity firm in Boston.

Jordan is also very committed to community service, and is an Executive Fellow for the Service Committee of the Associated Students of Stanford University. Since his brother was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2008, Jordan has raised over $35,000 for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and has run in two half-marathons on its behalf. Jordan also founded his own nonprofit organization in 2008 called B.A.T. For Kids (refer to www.batforkids.com for more info). Jordan has raised over $25,000 for his charity, which has provided over 3,500 books and toys to five hospitals in Massachusetts.

Jordan was born and raised in Weston, MA. Jordan enjoys traveling, ping pong, meeting new people, and helping others.

Jørgen Bek Weiss Hansen

Jørgen is a LL.M. student at Stanford Law School focusing on corporate matters and entrepreneurship. He is working on StartX's legal matters and preparing workshops for the teams regarding legal issues that startups are confronted with.

He is an active member of Stanford Law School's Advanced Degree Student Association and Chinese Law & Policy Association.

Jørgen is originally from Denmark, where he is admitted to the Danish Bar and has a Master of Laws degree from Aarhus University (Denmark).

Stephen Trusheim

Stephen is passionate about technology, is a member of the Stanford Class of 2013 majoring in Computer Science with a secondary major in Symbolic Systems, and is the Operations Director of SSE Labs.

He comes from a background in bioinformatics and a history of successful operations management, including Stanford's largest student-run events. He believes that rapid advances in technology will fundamentally change society, and is excited to stay ahead of the curve by helping entrepreneurs develop tomorrow's revolutionary companies.

Born and raised near Minneapolis, Minnesota, Stephen enjoys anything involving water — be it snow, ice, or just liquid.

Wesley Leung

Wesley is a sophomore at Stanford University majoring in Mathematics and Computational Science. He is extremely excited about entrepreneurship and hopes to start his own venture soon. While at Stanford, he has involved himself in many entrepreneurship-related organizations, most notably the Business Association of Stanford Entrepreneurial Students (BASES).

Wesley is initially from Milpitas, CA. He is interested in startups, consumer technology, going to the gym, and camping.
